MAP CHART

Accessibility

Keyboard access, readable map design and accessibility considerations in Map Chart.

Map Chart is designed to support keyboard navigation, visible focus indicators and labelled controls. The site includes a skip-to-content link and respects reduced-motion preferences for decorative transitions.

Colour a map without precision pointing

Open Regions and use the searchable list to select countries or regions by name. This is an alternative to clicking small shapes on the map. Form controls and export buttons have accessible labels.

Make your exported map accessible

Add a clear title, meaningful legend labels and enough colour contrast. Use patterns when helpful and provide a text description alongside exported images. A map image alone is not a substitute for a table when readers need exact values.

Motion is optional

Animations start only when requested. Use the stop control to end a preview. Static image exports are available for every map.

Known limitations

Dense geographic labels can overlap. The visual canvas does not yet provide a complete screen-reader interpretation of all spatial relationships. The searchable region list supplies names and selection controls, and CSV templates provide a text-based starting point.

Report a problem

Use the feedback page to prepare a report with the affected page, browser and steps. Describe what you expected and what prevented you from completing the task.
