From spreadsheet to geographic story
A data map joins values to geographic regions and uses colours to communicate a pattern. Prepare two columns, region and value, and preview the matching results before you apply a colour scale.
How to use this map maker
- Choose your map and check that its regions match the geographic level you need.
- Open Regions to colour places, or use Data to preview and apply a CSV import.
- Choose a theme, name your groups and add a title, subtitle and source.
- Save a project, share an editable snapshot or export an image or short video.
Export options
Download PNG or JPEG for presentations, SVG for further editing or an image-based PDF for printing. The Animate tab creates country reveals, rankings, routes and spotlights. Video exports use a browser-supported MP4 or WebM format; keep the tab open during rendering.
Frequently asked questions
Is this map chart free to download?+
Yes. Image, vector, PDF and browser video exports are free. An account is optional and only needed for account-based saving.
Can I change the colours and legend?+
Yes. Select a group in Regions, edit its name and colour, then click regions or use the searchable list. Design includes legend, label and pattern settings.
Are these boundaries current and official?+
These are generalised reference datasets, not an authoritative boundary service. Names and administrative levels may differ from current official sources. Check the notes or import your own licensed GeoJSON.
Can I return to edit my map?+
The browser autosaves drafts. Save a named project, keep a downloaded backup or save to a free account to access it from another device.
