What is a map chart?

A map chart displays categories or values on geographic regions. Use colours, labels and a legend to show differences between countries, states or other areas. Start with the geography that matches your question, then design the map around the answer.

How to use this map maker

  1. Choose your map and check that its regions match the geographic level you need.
  2. Open Regions to colour places, or use Data to preview and apply a CSV import.
  3. Choose a theme, name your groups and add a title, subtitle and source.
  4. Save a project, share an editable snapshot or export an image or short video.

Export options

Download PNG or JPEG for presentations, SVG for further editing or an image-based PDF for printing. The Animate tab creates country reveals, rankings, routes and spotlights. Video exports use a browser-supported MP4 or WebM format; keep the tab open during rendering.

Frequently asked questions

Is this map chart free to download?+

Yes. Image, vector, PDF and browser video exports are free. An account is optional and only needed for account-based saving.

Can I change the colours and legend?+

Yes. Select a group in Regions, edit its name and colour, then click regions or use the searchable list. Design includes legend, label and pattern settings.

Are these boundaries current and official?+

These are generalised reference datasets, not an authoritative boundary service. Names and administrative levels may differ from current official sources. Check the notes or import your own licensed GeoJSON.

Can I return to edit my map?+

The browser autosaves drafts. Save a named project, keep a downloaded backup or save to a free account to access it from another device.
