MAP CHART

What’s new in Map Chart

Release notes for map selection, detailed geography, table imports and browser-rendered exports.

Updated 28 October 2026. These notes describe available features and their practical limits.

Selection and world layers

  • Multiple-region selection, continent presets, rectangle and freehand lasso.
  • Apply or erase a colour across a selection, select all, invert and clear.
  • Optional US states, Canada provinces and UK constituent countries inside the world map.
  • Pacific-centred Miller view and 32 small-country callouts.

Expanded map library

Six detailed continent maps combine the existing regional reference datasets. New specialised views include 119th US congressional districts (2025–2027), a 538-cell 2024/2028 electoral allocation cartogram and the four UK constituent countries. Six historical snapshots and three original fantasy maps include source/licence notes.

Tables and learning

Import Excel worksheets locally, read public Google Sheets and connect an Airtable base using a read-only token. Column choice precedes the matching preview. An editor walkthrough, keyboard shortcuts and practical examples explain the workflows.

Animation and export

Smooth fade-in and instant reveals share a frame-based export renderer. Supported devices can export 1080p or 4K video at 30 fps. Custom fills, outlines and projection controls remain available alongside PNG, JPEG, SVG and image-based PDF.

Known scope

Private Google/Microsoft OAuth connections require app configuration and are not enabled. NUTS import/filtering is available for user-supplied licensed GeoJSON; bundled GISCO NUTS boundaries are not included. Historical snapshots are reconstructions. Fictional maps are original designs, not licensed assets from named games.
