NUTS divides European territory into statistical regions. NUTS 2 and NUTS 3 are different geographic levels; the classification edition must match the codes and year in your statistical table.
Supply appropriately licensed geometry
This release does not bundle Eurostat GISCO NUTS boundaries. The GISCO statistical-units distribution has specific use conditions, including commercial-use restrictions. A freely downloadable file is not automatically licensed for an advertising-supported application. Review the official source and conditions and obtain permission or another suitable source for your intended use.
Import a NUTS file
- Prepare a polygon or multipolygon GeoJSON FeatureCollection in WGS84 longitude/latitude.
- Open Data → Use your own boundaries.
- Choose NUTS 2 or NUTS 3 in the GeoJSON level filter. The filter reads
LEVL_CODE. - Import the GeoJSON. IDs use
NUTS_ID; labels useNAME_LATNorNUTS_NAME. - Import values using those exact NUTS IDs and review unmatched rows.
For a file without LEVL_CODE, choose All regions and supply only the desired level. The file must be under 10 MB, with at most 10,000 features and 500,000 coordinate positions. Simplify very detailed files before importing.
Keep context with your map
Add the classification year, statistical year and data source in the title, subtitle or footnote. Keep the original licence and attribution with any redistributed data. A regional map from another source is not a substitute for a correctly versioned NUTS dataset.
